Tideborne Command
Tideborne Command puts you in charge of a cluster of seaside settlements and asks you to keep them fed, sheltered, and standing when the weather turns. It's real-time but slow enough to think, and you can pause to issue orders, which saves your thumbs a lot of panic. The core loop of routing boats, stockpiling for storms, and expanding when it's safe is quietly addictive.
What I liked most is that it doesn't drown you in menus. Resources are visual — you can glance at a harbour and read how the town is doing. The storm system is the star: forecasts give you time to prepare, but never quite enough, so there's always a decision to make about what you can afford to lose.
It runs beautifully on modest phones and the sessions scale to your mood. A quick storm scenario is fifteen minutes; the campaign islands can eat an evening. A rare mobile strategy game that trusts you to be smart.
