Cosy games that don't guilt-trip you

Cosy games that don't guilt-trip you

There's a whole category of mobile game that pretends to be relaxing while quietly training you to check in every four hours or lose progress. Pocket Orchard is the opposite, and playing it reminded me how a cosy game should actually feel.

No wilting-if-you-leave mechanics, no punishing timers, no daily streak nagging you at bedtime. You plant, you prune, you come back whenever, and the orchard waits patiently. Seasonal changes give you a reason to return without demanding it.

That design choice changes the mood entirely. When a game doesn't hold your progress hostage, playing it becomes a choice instead of a chore, and I find myself opening it more, not less. Funny how that works.

If you want to wind down at night, look for games that let you stop mid-task cleanly. A good cosy game is one you can close without a flicker of anxiety.
